The characters and stories in the pages of this cookbook are like various colored threads interwoven with the threads of others, making up the fabric of my life; thus, the weaving goes on from generation to generation and each of us affects the lives of those we happen to meet in the walk of life...Pen and ink drawings of the buildings in the historic community are by folk artist Dee Dann, whose paintings of historic sites are known throughout the world.Memories abound as I recount to guests my recollections of the genteel men and women who had the tenacity and desire to stay on the Plateau and leave behind a legacy of character and strength. It is my hope that the narration in this book, a collection of those stories shared with my guests, will reflect the traditions and character of the people who lived in this unique blend of lifestyles and customs.
